Abandoning Accountability in MedicaidYesterday’s New York Times editorial, “Financing Health Care Reform,” outlines the need to “make the hard choices” including “cutting and reallocating hundreds of billions of dollars from projected spending on Medicare and Medicaid …”. However, judging by last week’s action by the Obama Administration to rescind three Medicaid regulations, the Times’ admonition is likely to fall upon deaf ears. Read more >>

Grace-Marie Turner on ABC News Prescription for AmericaGrace-Marie Turner, president of the Galen Institute, has been invited to the White House this evening to participate in the ABC News special “Questions for the President: Prescription for America.” Charlie Gibson and Diane Sawyer will moderate the discussion as President Obama answers questions from the audience about health reform. The program airs tonight from 10:00-11:00pm Eastern on ABC, with a follow up broadcast later this evening on Nightline.

Galen Institute Announces Video Contest WinnersThe Galen Institute announced today it has selected a video by Don Brookins entitled “Universal Car Care” (Contest PKG) as the First Place winner in its Do No Harm video contest. The video depicts a customer with government auto-repair insurance seeking a brake job for his 1993 automobile as an analogy to the challenges consumers would face in a government-run health insurance system.
